To build a new business object

  1. Open Microsoft SQL Server and create a new table, granting appropriate permissions.
  2. Open the Business Object Architect.
  3. Add the new table to the iMIS framework:
    • Select Add.
    • Select Branches from the task list and change the default value in the Name field to your new business object.
    • Save the branch.
  4. Create a relationship between the new business object and existing business objects.
    • Select Physical from the task list.
    • Select the new SQL table from the drop-down list.
    • Select Add.
    • Define a join between the new business object and an existing business object, if there is one.
    • Select Add.
  5. Customize the properties for the new business object's classes.
    • Select the Columns tab on the Physical page.
    • Select the columns that you want to display, one at at time in the order you want to see them. The order defaults to alphabetical and if you select all of the fields, the system builds all of the business objects in alphabetical order.
    • Select the field and select Create Property for Selected Columns to add the field to the business object.
  6. Define lookups:
    • Select Properties from the task list.
    • Select the field you want to edit.
    • Select the Display tab.
    • Select the Value tab and define any lookups you need. You can edit these values, if necessary.
    • Save your settings.
    • Close the page.
  7. Build and publish the new business object:
    • Select the Design tab on the main BOA page.
    • Select your business object in the list.
    • Build the business object.
    • Publish the business object.
