Installing iMIS Analytics
You can install iMIS Analytics in a two-tier or single-tier configuration. See Basic concepts for your IT staff to determine which configuration is best for your implementation of iMIS Analytics. See System requirements for requirements for each configuration.
Before you begin
- You must perform this procedure on the iMIS Analytics host.
- The iMIS Analytics host must have the following software installed:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000, SP4, installed as a local default instance (Local)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services, SP4, installed in the default location (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services)
- Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, SP1
Note:
- Installation will fail if there is not a local default instance of SQL Server on the iMIS Analytics host. If you have more than one instance of SQL Server installed on the iMIS Analytics host, make sure that you specify to install iMIS Analytics on the instance named (Local) in the following procedure. See your SQL Server documentation for more information about local default instances and named instances.
- Applying Service Pack 4 to SQL Server 2000 does not also update Analysis Services to SP4. Service Pack 4 for Analysis Services is a separate update.
- If you are unsure whether your installations of SQL Server 2000 and Analysis Services are at the required service pack level, see Determining the service pack level for SQL Server and Analysis Services.
- If you are setting up a two-tier configuration, on the iMIS Analytics host you must have already created a linked server definition for the iMIS host, and the iMIS host must be a member of the same domain as the iMIS Analytics host. See Creating a linked server definition for two-tier configurations.
- You must know the name of the iMIS database on the iMIS host.
- The license key for iMIS Analytics must have been installed in iMIS.

- A new Data Transformation Services (DTS) package named Update iMIS Analytics and a related SQL Server Agent job named Update Analytics are created in the local default instance of SQL Server.
- A new analysis database named iAnalytics is created in Analysis Services.
- An HTML Help file named Analytics.chm, which describes the data warehouse architecture, is created in the docs folder of the iMIS Analytics program folders (usually C:\Program Files\ASI\Analytics).
- A briefing book named iMIS Analytics.bbk, designed for use with ProClarity Professional, is created in the data folder of the iMIS Analytics program folders.
- Populate the data warehouse and analysis database with an initial set of iMIS data by manually running the Update iMIS Analytics DTS package. See Manually running the Update iMIS Analytics DTS package.
- (optional) Modify the default schedule of the Update Analytics job. See Changing the scheduled run time of the Update iMIS Analytics DTS package.
- Test your installation by viewing the iMIS Analytics data cubes with an OLAP viewer to ensure that they are populated with your iMIS data. See Analyzing iMIS business performance with the IMIS Briefing Book.
- Install the iMIS Analytics Briefing Book on each client computer that will be using ProClarity Professional to analyze data in iMIS Analytics. See Installing the iMIS Analytics Briefing Book on client computers.
