To set up a FoxPro ODBC

  1. Click Start> Settings> Control Panel, and select Data Sources (ODBC) to open the ODBC Data Source Administrator window.
  2. Click the System DSN tab.
  3. Click the Add button. The Create New Data Source window opens.
  4. In the list of drivers shown, highlight Microsoft Visual FoxPro Driver and click Finish. The ODBC Visual FoxPro Setup window opens.
  5. Enter a Data Source Name and Description.
  6. Check the Free Table directory option. This specifies the data source you want to connect to the directory for free tables (.dbf).
  7. Enter or browse to the Path to the directory where you have your EXPOCAD\Company file folder. This path will be used by iMIS to find the ExpoCadExp file, which will be created in the Company folder of EXPOCAD.
  8. Click Options to view additional ODBC setup options:
  9. Select Machine from the Collating sequence drop-down list. The following options are ODBC defaults. Do not disable the defaults.
    • Null – allows an insert on a null value
    • Deleted – prevents deleted records from being retrieved. This option should remain enabled because the FoxPro database does not physically remove deleted records from the database until a Pack command is run. Disabling this option will cause deleted records to be retrieved.
    • Fetch data in background – determines whether records can be retrieved in the background (progressive fetching)
  10. Click OK on the ODBC Visual FoxPro Setup window:
    • If the path for your EXPOCAD\Company folder is incorrect, a message displays telling you that you have an invalid free table directory specification.
  11. Verify the path and click OK.
    • If the path for your EXPOCAD\Company folder is correct, click OK on the ODBC Data Source Administrator window.
