The default status code for all products is Active, and you can change a product's status code any time during the product's life cycle. Changes to product status codes are not retroactive and do not affect existing orders.
Depending on a product's original status, additional restrictions may apply when changing status codes if the product also is one of the following:
Note: Kit components are required to have an Active status if the parent kit product's status also is Active, and you must remove a product from all Active kits before changing its status.
Note: Changing the status of a kit component does not flow down to the component's parent kit. However, when a parent kit product's status is changed, you can change the status of all of the kit components as long as the components do not belong to other kits.
Active ? Inactive
Once you change a product's status from Active to Inactive, the product is no longer available for sale to customers, and iMIS does not return the product from searches during order entry.
Additional restrictions apply when changing a product's status from Active to Inactive if the product also is a kit, kit component, Upsell/Cross-sell item, or Replacement item.
Active ? Mark for Deletion
Once you change a product's status from Active to Mark for Deletion, the product is no longer available for sale to customers, and iMIS does not return the product from searches during order entry.
If any of the following conditions are true when changing a product's status from Active to Mark for Deletion, an error will display, the status change will fail, and iMIS will reset the product's status to Active:
Additional restrictions apply when changing a product's status from Active to Mark for Deletion if the product also is a kit, kit component, Upsell/Cross-sell item, or Replacement item.
Active ? Not Available
To change a product's status from Active to Not Available, you first must designate a Replacement item for the product on the Upsell/Replace window. Only if you designate a Replacement item for the product can you change the product's status from Active to Not Available.
Additional restrictions apply when changing a product's status from Active to Not Available if the product also is a kit, kit component, Upsell/Cross-sell item, or Replacement item.
Active ? Out of Production
To change a product's status from Active to Out of Production, you first must designate a Replacement item for the product on the Upsell/Replace window. Only if you designate a Replacement item for the product can you change the product's status from Active to Out of Production.
Once you change a product's status from Active to Out of Production and deplete the product's current inventory, iMIS treats additional sales of the product as if the product's status is Not Available.
Additional restrictions apply when changing a product's status from Active to Out of Production if the product also is a kit, kit component, Upsell/Cross-sell item, or Replacement item.
Additional Restrictions
Additional restrictions apply when changing a product's status from Active to Inactive, Mark for Deletion, Not Available, or Out of Production if the product also is one of the following:
Kit (Active ? All) - If a product with an Active status is a kit, iMIS prompts you to select either or to change the status of all kit components:
Kit component (Active ? All) - Only products with an Active status can be components of kits with an Active status. To change an Active component's status when the parent kit's status is Active, you first must remove the component from the kit.
Upsell/Cross-sell item (Active ? All) - If a product with an Active status is an Upsell/Cross-sell item for other products (or has Upsell/Cross-sell items assigned to it), iMIS deletes the relationships from the appropriate tables when you change the product's status.
Replacement item (Active ? Inactive, Not Available, and Out of Production) - If a product with an Active status is a Replacement item for other products, iMIS deletes the relationships from the appropriate tables when you change the product's status. Relationships for this product's Replacement items are not affected.
Replacement item (Active ? Mark for Deletion) - If a product with an Active status is a Replacement item for other products (or has a Replacement item designated for it), iMIS deletes the relationships from the appropriate tables when you change the product's status from Active to Mark for Deletion.
