Specifying a Shared Folder for Word Templates

To use the Letter System, you must specify a path to a shared folder that maintains the MS Word templates that all your iMIS users can access. The path to your shared folder is entered in the Choose MS Word Folder field on the System Setup window (select File> System Setup).

Note: If you do not want users to share MS Word templates, you can enter a local path in the Choose MS Word Folder field. However, all users must use that same local path, for example, C:\imis10\MSWord.

Your shared folder is stored in the System_Params table with a value of System_Control.MSWordStoreDirectory in ParameterName. Until you specify a path to your Microsoft Word templates shared folder and restart iMIS, the System_Control.MSWordStoreDirectory value does not exist, iMIS defaults to QuickLetter, the Letter System is unavailable, and the value that displays for MS Word Integration Control Version on the iMIS System Info window (select Help> About iMIS, and click System Info) is "not loaded (no path)."

If the System_Control.MSWordStoreDirectory value does exist, but the path to the shared folder is invalid, the Letter System is disabled, and the value "not loaded (path error)" displays for MS Word Integration Control Version.

Note: All iMIS users that need to create Microsoft Word templates must have the appropriate permissions to access the shared network folder for Microsoft Word templates.
