It is possible to create address records that contain a phone number but no address. For example, if you enter a value in a field on the Profile tab and the secondary address record that corresponds to the mapped field does not exist, the mapped field on the secondary address tab is not automatically populated with the value from the Profile tab. If you click in the mapped field on the secondary address tab, the field is populated with the value from the Profile tab, but the other fields, including the address fields, of the secondary address tab will still be empty. This can result in the printing of blank labels during a label run.
If you need to track secondary phone number values such as pager and cell phone numbers, you should create user-defined tables and Customer Portfolio tabs for this purpose rather than storing these numbers in address purpose fields. This will help prevent the creation of address records that contain a phone number but no address.
Note: If you populate a field on a secondary address tab that does not contain an address, make sure to enter an address to avoid blank address labels.
