Using the Generate reports Window

This section describes the Generate reports window and other secondary report windows. For all report types, the Subscription Selection window opens when you run the report. This selection window allows you to specify the subset of data that you want to include in the output results. Depending on the options you select, a secondary window allows you to select subscribers.

Note: The settings that determine the features of the label print runs are based on the Subscriptions table.

Description

Provides a description of the selected report.

Set Report Destination button

Used to select the output device for your report. Printer is the default destination option. However, once you select another destination option and click Save, that option becomes the default report destination. The report destination defaults to the last destination selected and saved each time iMIS is launched.

When you select Printer as your default destination, iMIS stores the path to your default printer in the database. If you do not want iMIS to store this information (for example, if you access iMIS through a Terminal Server or Citrix connection that may append a network identifier to the path to your default printer, causing iMIS to designate your printer setting as invalid), you can select the Do not retain printer destination (Terminal Server environments) option on the System Setup window (select File> System Setup). When you enable this option, iMIS does not save the path to your default printer destination to the database. You will still be able to print to your default printer when you select the Printer option on the Report Destination window. If when starting a subsequent session iMIS detects a conflict with your printer setting (for example, if you select a different default printer), an error message will display and you will be able to select a valid printer. You can also click the Reset All button to clear any existing report destination values.

Note: You must have a default printer specified on your workstation to access the Print Setup (select File> Print Setup) and Report Destination window.

If you select the File report destination option, every time you restart iMIS the system recreates that file. If you have a previously existing instance of that file still in the path location, then a message displays asking if you want to overwrite the file. Click Yes to overwrite the file, or click No to rename the file. If you have moved or deleted the file from the previous export, then it creates the file again as a 0 kb file in preparation for the next export.

Note: Set the report destination to Screen to avoid the unnecessary printing of reports.

Note: To print the report, select the Printer option rather than printing the report from the screen. The printed reports will not align exactly as they appear on the screen if you print them from the screen; printing from the Printer option will prevent this problem.

Options button

Used to open a list of options for the selected report. This list includes report output formats for printing, exporting, saving, and sorting. Some options may not be available for all Available Reports.

Run button

Used to generate the output produced from your search, format, and content choices.
