How you manage your product inventory depends on whether you store each individual product in a single warehouse or in multiple warehouses. If you store individual products in a single warehouse, then you will be using standard inventory, and the Enable Multi-Warehouses option does not need to be enabled. However, if you store individual products in multiple warehouses, then you do need to enable the option.
Enabling the Enable Multi-Warehouses option allows you to define multiple warehouse locations for each of your individual products; you have the ability to record and manage a product's inventory for each individual warehouse location. You also have the ability to define a specific bin where products are stored within each individual warehouse.
Enabling the option after products have been posted to inventory does not affect product inventory directly. However, once you enable the Enable Multi-Warehouses option, you completely alter the way iMIS Orders records your product inventory. In turn, this affects how you manage your products and product inventory.
The following summarizes the effects enabling the Enable Multi-Warehouses option has on windows:
Transfer option - Displays for transferring products from warehouse to warehouse.
Warehouse field(s) and Bin field(s) - Display for entering inventory receipts, adjustments, and transfers for specific products' warehouses.
Default Warehouse field - Displays for entering a product's default warehouse.
Warehouses window. The Warehouses window replaces the Inventory window and is used for entering warehouses and defining inventory parameters for individual products.
button - Replaces the button and opens theWarehouse field - Displays for overriding a product's default warehouse when entering or editing an order.
Bin field - Displays the location in the warehouse where a product is stored.
