To define the company database and event in EXPOCAD

The steps below demonstrate defining both a Company Database and an Event in EXPOCAD, however, you are not required to create a new Company Database for each Event.

  1. In EXPOCAD, select File> Open File to open the EXPOCAD – File Open window.
  2. Enable the Company Database option.

Note: At this point, you could select a Company Database, or continue with step 3 and enter a new one. If you select a Company Database, continue with step 6.

  3. Enter the File Name of the company database in the File Name field.
  4. Click OK. The EXPOCAD – Add New Exhibitor window opens, expecting you to enter an individual exhibitor name. You won't need to enter exhibitor information because you will later import this information from iMIS.
  5. Click Cancel.

Note: If you click OK, a message displays stating that a client number and name must be entered. Click OK to close the message and then click Cancel.

  6. Select File> Open to open the EXPOCAD – File Open window again.
  7. Enable the Event option and enter the EXPOCAD event name, which is the same name you will enter in as the exposition code in iMIS.

Note: This field must match the iMIS Exposition Code, so it is both case sensitive (use all capital letters) and character specific.

  8. Click OK to display the EXPOCAD – Event Information window.

Note: At this point you need to decide if your exhibitor list is going to be specific for this event, or if you're going to use a master list (one used in other events).

When importing exhibitor names into EXPOCAD, it will first look to see if there is a file name entered for the Master Exhibitor List. If no file name is entered, it will import to the default file name entered for the Event Exhibitor List.

  9. Click the Event Exhibitor List or Master Exhibitor List button to open the Open file window, or accept the Event Exhibitor List default.

Note: EXPOCAD does not allow you to create an event without a Master Exhibitor List or Event Exhibitor List referenced. If both these fields are left blank, EXPOCAD creates a default Event Exhibitor List and populates the field when the window is closed.

  10. Select the company database and click Open. The database name is automatically populated in the corresponding list field.
  11. Click OK to display the EXPOCAD tool bar.
  12. Click X in the right hand corner to close this window.
