Educational Requirements for the CMAS Designation

To become a Certified Medical Accounting Specialist, successful candidates must complete 18 credit hours of coursework. These 18 hours must include nine hours in the Medical Accounting area and three hours each in the following areas of study: Government Reporting, Finance, and Electives. Medical Accounting, Government Reporting, Finance, and Electives are the component categories. Credit hours may be earned by completing courses offered by the Association of Certified Medical Accounting Specialists or by other accredited course providers. The courses that qualify for credit are listed below.
