Creating links to iMIS modules from query results

Queries that can be run from the Advanced Query link on the Home page or in the Customers, Events, and Orders modules can be designed to display a link from each returned row to the corresponding module. For example, if you run the Contacts > Last Name query, you can click the ID number in a returned row to load the corresponding customer profile in the Customers tab.

The following technique can be used only on queries that are created in the appropriate Central Object Repository folder for each Advanced Query link, as follows:

Before you begin

You must have sufficient authority to create, edit, and delete queries in the listed Central Object Repository folders.

To set up navigation to iMIS modules from query results

  1. From Home, select Advanced Query > Contacts or Prospects or Events or Orders.
  2. Create or edit a query.
  3. Select the Display tab.
  4. From the Mode drop-down list, choose Advanced.

    A new Alias column appears.

  5. In the row that corresponds to the key Property for the query, enter one of the following strings in the Alias field:
    • For Contact queries, enter key_contact in the row that corresponds to the customer ID.
    • For Event queries, enter key_event in the row that corresponds to the order number of the event registration.
    • For Order queries, enter key_order in the row that corresponds to the order number.
    • For Prospect queries, enter key_prospect in the row that corresponds to the customer ID.
  6. Save the query.
  7. Test that the links appear correctly in the returned rows by running the query from the Advanced Query link on the Home page or in the Customers, Events, and Orders modules. (The links will not appear if you run the query from the IFC tab.)
