Manage customers window - Name area

From Customers, select Manage customers, and find customer record

Prefix

Select the drop-down arrow on this field to select the title or abbreviated title, such as Mr., Mrs., and Dr. that will be used before the customer's formal name. Your administrator can define values for this drop-down list.

First Name

Use this field to specify the first name of the customer.

Middle Initial

Use this field to specify the middle initial or middle name of the customer. iMIS automatically inserts a period if you enter only the initial.

Last Name

Use this field to specify the last name of the customer.

Suffix

Select the drop-down arrow on this field to select the suffix that follows the customer's last name (for example, Jr., Sr., or III). Your administrator can define values for this drop-down list.

Informal

Use this field to specify an informal name if it is different from the first name. iMIS automatically populates this field with the first name, which can be overridden.

Designation

Use this field to specify any professional designation that will be added to the end of the formal name for the customer. For example, CPA, PhD, or DDS. You can enter the value(s) or click the lookup icon on this field to select the value(s) from the Select Values window. The Designation field accepts up to 20 characters. If you enter more than 20 characters, the values that are stored in the display in the field are truncated (shortened). Your administrator can define values for this list.

Title

Select the drop-down arrow on this field to select the professional title or position of the customer.

When your administrator enables the Suppress Individual Name Fields for Company Records option, the Name area of the Customer Portfolio is dimmed (unavailable) and cleared of any values as soon as the Member Type field is set to a company customer type. When a record is saved as a company record, the data is refreshed so that the company fields shift to the top of the area and the Name area is no longer visible.

If the customer type is later changed from a company to an individual, the fields in the Name area of the record are restored; however, any values that existed for those fields are not restored.

If the Suppress Individual Name Fields for Company Records option is not enabled, the Name area is displayed for company customer type records; however, the Company area is displayed above the Name area.
