Tips for defining queries
- Various attributes are inherited from the sources you select (relations, default columns, default column order). These become default settings that you can modify.
- Performance will drop if you fail to join multiple business objects together when you are creating the query.
- You can sort columns in the output by clicking on a column header. This will cause a carat symbol to display in the column header indicating that the column is now a sort column. This sort overrides any sorting defined on the Sorting tab, and will change the sort definition specified on the Sorting tab to reflect the current column sort.
- To view your output in Excel, select Run, select the Export icon, and enable the Microsoft Excel option under Export.
- You can export a query to the following formats: comma-delimited file, tab-delimited file, MS Excel, MS Word, HTML, and XML.
- No validation of the query name's uniqueness occurs, so save the query with a unique identifier.
- When using multiple sources, use the up and down arrows to reorder the data sources.
- Order in the Display tab is based on the listed order of the chosen columns, not the order they were chosen. Subsequent sorting selections go at the end of the sort order list (per session) again by order listed within each session.
- Use Advanced mode to view the hidden (internal) business object properties.
