Inserts are the physical items sent to contacts and prospects when soliciting a response to a specific marketing appeal. Source codes (which combine multiple inserts into a single package) link the inserts to your targeted lists of contacts and prospects. All responses to a solicitation are then tracked by the source code.
You have complete control and flexibility when creating your inserts. Inserts can be physical items, such as brochures, envelopes, forms, postage, and other marketing components and promotional items. After you create an insert, you can reuse it in multiple campaigns.
You also can assign queries and output processes to inserts that generate customized letters, e-mail, faxes, labels, rosters, and physical file formats in a specific order. Queries and output processes are defined in the Central Object Repository (CORE) of the IFC. The following output processes can be assigned to inserts:
