Special Features of iMIS Certification
iMIS Certification offers several features to help you manage your certification program:
- User-defined tables that allow you to specify requirements at the program (Certified Accounting Specialist), category (Accounting courses), and component (Accounting 101) levels. These tables form the basis for determining the student's certification status.
- The ability to maintain multiple certification programs, which can represent discrete programs or levels (such as Beginner through Advanced to track complex certification requirements). You can "clone" program and component definitions to generate related programs or components quickly.
- The ability to generate inquiries and reports to disclose the status of a student's requirements, earned and unearned. You also can produce letters to communicate certification status to students in a program.
- Seven fields (Activity.UF_1 through UF_7) that can be user-defined and mapped to fields in the registration records. These fields allow the data to be preserved in the certification activity records.
- An option for both initial certification and subsequent maintenance requirements for your customers. The Certification module supports three Program Types:
- Standard - An initial certification period only
- Maintenance - An initial certification period followed by an ongoing maintenance portion with its own time and completion requirements
- Rotating - A maintenance portion only
- You can specify additional date requirements with each of these program types.
- For standard certification (includes initial certification only), specify begin and end dates or a completion time frame calculated from the date of enrollment.
- For maintenance portions, specify:
- Automatic enrollment, enrollment based on a set date, or enrollment following the previous period, and
- The length of the maintenance period.
Using these criteria, iMIS automatically calculates the deadlines for completion. When you use a preset Begin Date for a maintenance period, the deadline is calculated as the Begin Date plus the length of the maintenance portion until the first subsequent date is reached.
- A purge routine lets you purge registration records. With this purge, you can specify which records to purge by Type, based upon several date fields, or by Status. In addition, there is an option to create activity records if you are purging component registrations.
- Activity records are created automatically for program registrations.
Standard Reports include a Program Completion List, Board Notification Report, Student Transcripts, and Student Notification Letters.
- The Program Completion List checks enrolled students for program completion and reports on those who have completed the program.
- The Board Notification Report and Student Notification Letters mark registration records as "board notified" and "student notified," respectively, as of the report's run date.
- The Student Transcript allows for reporting on all aspects of the student's enrollment in a program. For example, a specific report on one student in one program, or a comprehensive report of all students/programs.
